Sound sometimes stops working completely
Sound (input and output) is sometimes completely dead (almost daily). It can either happen on a new boot, or more commonly after wake from suspend (from what I can see).
When it stops working and a sound is played, Pulseaudio reports "Failed to create sink input: sink is suspended". The volume bar and device is visible, but there is just no sound.
Temporary fix: restart the phone or restart Pulseaudio (the latter is not as reliable). However, it is possible that this needs to be done multiple times to fix the issue.
Further issue: rarely when doing a warm reboot to fix the issue, the phone cannot boot: it vibrates with blinking red light and gives up. Cold boot, starts. Related or red herring? I will confirm that this only happens related to the sound issue, before saying definitely.
I have tried three configurations:
- Mobian plain: as described above
- With Pipewire enabled "instead of" Pulseaudio: no change
- With Wireplumber: similar problem, although now when it doesn't work the volume bar is not visible at all (why?) this at least makes it easier to know when it's not working. However, with a downside: for some reason it is not possible to change the volume in phone calls anymore. Not great.
I heard another user mention the very same issue on Pinephone Matrix chat.
