zram images fail to boot fully

Something is awry with -Z option for zram-based tmp/ dirs. Upon booting, once resizing the partition, the screen turns black, backlight remains on, and is/becomes seemingly hung, rebooting after 8? second power button press. Same effect after rebooting (minus initial-resize, obviously).

I'll investigate but I need to order/whip up a serial cable first I think.
