List of tasks for volunteers
Let's list the tasks for volunteers to be used by wafer.
1) Bar
- Bartender (Person who will sell beer at noisy hacklab at Hotel). English is required.
2) Content
- Signage deployment (Before the conference opens, we need to put poster with rooms names).
3) Video
- Room Coordinators. English is required.
- Directors. English is required.
- Sound Technicians. English is required.
- Camera Operators. English is required.
- Talk Meisters and time keeper (If you wish, you may also briefly introduce each speaker.Your task is to guarantee that the schedule timing is respected. You will also help the speakers in setting up their presentation and microphone/pointer,Check water in the room).) English is required.
This is indeed the case - these roles need to be filled for every talk in each of the 3 talk rooms that are to be filmed (indeed we need 2 camera operators per room). Most of the time there will be several members of the video team in each room but we rely heavily on volunteers attending to step into each of these roles during the conference. If you are interested in volunteering there will be a schedule to sign up for each of the tasks for each talk, please add your name to it. You don't need to volunteer for every talk, just pick the ones you would be attending anyway. Finally we run several training sessions towards the end of DebCamp and over the first couple of days of DebConf. We'll cover each roll on a general session and then run a few more detailed workshops for specific roles. Newbies and old hands are all welcome!
4) Catering
- Make coffee. (we need a person to make coffee and check the bottle during the day)
- Vegan breakfast (Person responsible for take care of vegan food at hotel in the morning).
- Guide for lunch and dinner (Person responsible for take care of people with orientations about food at UTFPR and check the menu at restaurant).Meal labels for lunch and dinner - put the labels in english (they will be already done) on the buffet at UTFPR restaurant to help no-portuguese-readers know what they are eating, change the menu everyday. English is required.
- Coffee break - Person who will help with coffee break preparation.
5) Front desk
- Helpers. English is required.
- Infodesk (The infodesk is about helping out fellow visitors who have questions, we need at least one person who speak Portuguese). English is required.
Some attendees don't speak portuguese, so, you will help them to make checkin at the Conference. Help visitors with orientations, for instance, they can ask where they can find a pharmacy, a supermarket, a nice restaurant, a tourist place.
6) Cheese and Wine
- Cleaning team (We need people to clear the local after C&W).
- Cheese labelling team (creates labels to put on cheese).
- Cheese cutting team (prepare and arrange stuff at the venue).
- Leftovers collection team (taking care of the leftovers after the party).
- Bread team (cutting bread and preparing drinks if it will be necessary).
- Helpers to buy itens for C&W at stores and supermarket.
- Helpers to prepare the place to C&W (will be at UFPR campus next to Estação shopping mall)
Most of the tasks will be done only July 22th.
7) Welcome team
- Helpers for welcome newcomers and make them feel confortable. English is required.
- Helpers to make a visit around the venue, showing the rooms, restaurant, Bathrooms, library. English is required.
8) Install fest at Open Day
- Install Debian for visitors.
9) Clean-up
- Check UTFPR infraestructure: bathrooms with they need papers and tell to venue staff to provide it, poster os bathrooms, check drinking fountain.
- Clean up hacklabs (will be 3 rooms).
- Clean up the barbecue place in the last day.
10) Conference Dinner
- Conference dinner labelling team (creates labels to put on food).
- Bus team (creating a schedule to bring people to the restaurant and bring back to hotel).
- Helpers to prepare the restaurant place.
11) Publicity
- Writer (Person who will write news about DC19 and post online, you can work with publicity team). English is required.
- Photographer.
12) Quick Check
- Check the rooms in the morning and at night, to open and close them (will be 5 rooms).
- Signage deployment (We will put some of our signs and posters at venue and at the hotel).
