Create video sponsor loop
We need to figure out the design for our sponsor loop.
It is displayed when there are no talks being streamed.
The content is usually:
- Animate logo
- Display sponsors in descending order of value, with logos decreasing in size for each level. This year Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
- Loop back around (so the last frame should look identical to the first)
All Bronze logos could be on one page. Probably Silver & Gold on one page each, too.
We'll experiment with overlaying information on the loop this year, so we should design a corner to be relatively blank, to have information rendered on top of it. That could be a separate version of the loop.
Examples of previous years:
- DC19: https://salsa.debian.org/debconf-team/public/data/dc19/-/blob/master/artwork/video/video-stream-loop-dc19.webm
- DC18: https://salsa.debian.org/debconf-team/public/data/dc18/-/blob/master/artworks/video/video-stream-loop-dc18.webm
- DC17: https://salsa.debian.org/debconf-team/public/data/archive/dc17/-/blob/master/artwork/videoloop/dc17-simpleloop_HD.mp4
- DC16: https://salsa.debian.org/debconf-team/public/data/archive/dc16/-/blob/master/design/video-stream-loop-dc16.webm
- DC15: https://salsa.debian.org/debconf-team/public/data/archive/dc15/-/blob/master/artwork/video-stream-loop-dc15.webm
Currently using this as a stand-in for the real loop: https://veronneau.org/media/test_loop.ts
The format is a 720p video (1280x720px).
We can use a variety of tools to produce it. @wouter has experience with povray, IIRC. I think DC19's loop was generated with Blender. Or we can simply fade from one static image to another.
First step: design.
