Debian needs a timezone-aware date picker

The problem

Finding a good time to meet for bursts of collaboration is hard.

Actual situation

Debian is extremely geographically diverse, making timezone handling crucial. Usual solutions are for the meeting proposer to decide arbitrarily, or to spin up a framadate/dudle poll, often just specifying UTC. With the right tool, we can make Debian more interactive for contributions.

Expected situation

A user can fill out their availability in the comfort of their own timezone, everyone can view the results in their own timezone. Perhaps you can give your email to get a calendar item sent to you if the organiser can confirm a specific slot.

The solution doesn't have to be particularly complex, the gratis site https://www.when2meet.com/ has simple UX: when2meet heatmap
