tvtime
======
This is the official Debian package for tvtime.
tvtime's source package is rather large, since it incorporates the
Free UCS Outline Fonts [1], and also the DScaler [2] filters. The
Debian package does not install the Free UCS Outline Fonts, but rather
depends on the ttf-freefont package. As such, the debian/rules script
uses the FREEFONT_CFLAGS variable in src/Makefile.am to convince
tvtime to look in the right place.
The DScaler filters may be installed. However, they cannot be
built from source on this platform. You will find the required
copyright information in /usr/share/doc/tvtime/copyright.gz.
These files are in contrib.
You will also want to enable the real-time clock module, if you don't
already have it installed. You should run `modconf` as root and install
'kernel/drivers/char/rtc'. This will load it on your next reboot.
Alternatively, you can add the 'rtc' module to '/etc/modules'.
As well, you may also opt to let tvtime access high resolutions from
the rtc device by executing:
sysctl -w dev.rtc.max-user-freq=1024
To retain this setting, add the following line to your /etc/sysctl.conf
dev.rtc.max-user-freq = 1024

Description: A high quality television application
tvtime is a high quality television application for use with video
capture cards. tvtime processes the input from a capture card and
displays it on a computer monitor or projector. Unlike other
television applications, tvtime focuses on high visual quality making
it ideal for videophiles.
.
tvtime supports:
* Deinterlaced output at a full interlaced rate of 59.94 frames per
second for NTSC source, or 50 frames per second for PAL sources.
This gives smoothness of motion and high visual quality.
* Multiple deinterlacing algoritms for finding the optimal mode for
your video content and available processor speed.
* 16:9 aspect ratio mode for the highest available resolution when
processing input from an external DVD player or digital satellite
receiver.
* A super-slick on-screen-display for the complete television
experience, with a featureful menu system.
* 2-3 Pulldown detection for optimal quality viewing of film content
from NTSC sources.
