LDAP errors after initial admin account creation, and later

Hi, late-night testing the apt-get install on armbian/buster, plinth 0.20.0. (Edited to compact report:)

I got two error message boxes after the admin account creation. One about "LDAP" and another about "could not add user to admin group"

It seems the admin user has been created successfully in spite of the error messages. (Based on the fact that installing apps seems to work, and on the properties shown in the users table.)

However, the created users are not available in matrix-synapse. (Logins fail, workaround to temporarily allow public registrations works.)

So there is indeed some LDAP problem, but all five diagnostic "user" tests say "passed". Please let me know how I can help with logs etc.
