Edits and maitnenance of the Debian Developer's Survey
Hello,
Just creating this issue to document the other issues that come and will be (or have been) handled by me for the sake of transparency (and can also be used next time to check we're not repeating them). :D
-
One participant was upset about the "Last name" field being mandatory. - [utkarsh] I was on my system at that point. Tweaked some of the JS again to make that field optional. This got resolved very quickly and the said DD was happy! \o/
-
Another participant got back because they weren't able to complete the survey as one of the mandatory questions didn't align with the answers they wanted to give. - [utkarsh] This was discussed internally w/ Raphael and I got back to the said DD and made the question optional for them to proceed.
-
One of the DDs got back with a bunch of detailed answers to 6 questions. All were good points and worth considering. - [utkarsh] I got back to them asking if it's okay sharing this internally and if they wanted to maintain their annonity. They were happy to share this and they were okay with their name being disclosed, too. So I'll provide this feedback further.

One participant wasn't getting the survey link via e-mail and asked me to take a look. - [utkarsh] I debugged and got this:
So I went ahead and fixed their @d.o mail in the database manually and re-generated the token and sent this manually. This worked out well and they also got the confirmation mail on their own. \o/
<EMAIL SNIPPED>: host mail.infodrom.org[217.114.79.202] said: 550 5.1.1 <EMAIL SNIPPED>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table (in reply to RCPT TO command)
- [utkarsh] I debugged and got this:
-
2 entries have been random names and email addresses like a@debian.org and Foo@debian.org which don't map to anything and so my email has been spammed by <a@debian.org>: host mailly.debian.org[2001:41b8:202:deb:6564:a62:52c3:4b72] said: 550 Unrouteable address (in reply to RCPT TO command).- [utkarsh] I'll probably delete these entries from the DB.
-
There was another participant who's not a DD but with valid name and email and they've got the survey link. - [utkarsh] What to do with it will depend on how many such entries are there. I'll handle them at the end.
-
Yet another person entered something very random and the LimeSurvey instance couldn't handle that in the first place. :P - [utkarsh] I'll just delete that bit from the DB. :|
-
One DD reached out to drop his entry from the database. - [utkarsh] Did that as it's their right to participate or not. :)
-
Have roughly 25 non-DD entries in the DB. - [utkarsh] Will handle at the end, depending on what we decide as to what to do with them.
-
Someone said that it's getting borderline-spammy. I, uh, don't know what to do with that. - [utkarsh] Left it as-is for now. Let Raphael and Seb know, though.
-
One user got back with some information and said that's not applicable to them. - [utkarsh] Sorted that out.
-
Two DDs complained about question 3 not having "single maintainer" or "none of the above" in the options. - [utkarsh] Got back to them with details and reasoning and suggested them to use "Other team(s)" for now. :/
