Apply https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=742672 to master With this patch, we can use script file as suite codename.
$ sudo debootstrap sid sid-chroot $ sudo debootstrap /usr/share/debootstrap/scripts/sid sid-chroot $ sudo debootstrap ~/myscript-file chroot-tmp
This patch is not the same as the one in #742672 and I don't agree with this patch. The bug report suggest to accept codenames for the SCRIPT parameter which is the fourth parameter. That definitely makes sense.
Your patch allows to use a script file for the CODENAME parameter which is the first parameter. This is not the same and doesn't make sense.
The typical use case for the script parameter is to handle an unknown release. When the codename can't be mapped to a script file, you indicate a script file to use and generally you just want to tell debootstrap "handle this unknown release like this other known release". Thus it makes sense to be able to put "sid" instead of "/usr/share/debootstrap/scripts/sid".
BTW, stop marking bugs as pending until they have been committed to the git repository.
