Inconsistency with articles in ISO-3166-1 English short names

I'm curious to know why iso-codes isn't using the exact short names listed on the ISO 3166-1 online browsing platform. For example:

  • iso-codes uses Russian Federation
  • ISO.org shows Russian Federation (the)

There are thirty-five countries in total that have (the) in their English short name. It's not a huge deal, but basically means that the list we have here in iso-codes is not technically ISO 3166-1, and if you are using it (or a library that uses it) you can only rely on Alpha2 or Alpha3 codes for matching, instead of the short name text values. The iso-codes package is used in dozens of libraries and is shipped by default on many operating systems, so it should be aligned in this regard to ISO 3166-1.

Thanks!
