dpkg-vendor lives in dpkg-dev, it cannot be used in postinst scripts. Check os-release for "ubuntu" instead, which will match "ID=ubuntu" in Ubuntu itself, and "ID_LIKE=ubuntu" in derivatives such as Mint. Fixes: cd5b637d LP: #1802005

We now use debhelper 13, which offers the ability to run custom commands before and after standard package build steps. Using this feature is cleaner than performing additional tasks as part of an override. Gbp-Dch: Ignore

If the build system detects that the host is running systemd, it will generate and install an alternative configuration which will attempt to start libvirt-dbus as a systemd service instead of a regular process when it's not already running. As long as Debian still supports using alternative init systems, we should avoid configuring libvirt-dbus in a way that can only work with systemd.

Debian already installs a policykit rule to achieve the intended result, and it would be confusing for the user if privileged libvirt access was granted through two separate mechanisms. We can still keep the code that deals with group membership around, since doing so doesn't introduce a significant maintenance burden for us and makes life easier for the Ubuntu developers, but at the same time we don't want Debian users to be affected by it so let's run it conditionally. We're already doing part of the job manually because dh-sysuser doesn't support declaring a list of additional groups that the newly-created user should be a part of. In addition to that, it turns out that dh-sysuser is buggy and doesn't clean up properly when the package is purged. Luckily our needs in terms of user management are fairly basic, so implementing the necessary logic ourselves is not complicated. https://bugs.debian.org/1000478 Gbp-Dch: Ignore

The current version of DEP14[1] (CANDIDATE status, updated 2020-11-29) recommends using debian/latest for development. We have been following a similar naming scheme for the libvirt package and it's proven to be quite nice to work with, so adopt it for libvirt-dbus too. The following patches contain fixes that have already been accepted upstream but are not part of any release yet: backport/Do-not-use-gulong-for-storing-uint64.patch backport/Handle-APIs-expecting-unsigned-long-correctly.patch backport/Handle-APIs-returning-unsigned-long-correctly.patch backport/tests-vcpupininfo-use-pytest.skip.patch backport/tests-skip-CPU-pinning-test-on-libvirt-6.6.0.patch backport/src-fix-double-free-of-virDomain-object.patch In particular, known FTBFS with libvirt 6.6.0 and on 32bit architectures such as armhf, as well as random test suite failures that show up from time to time, are addressed. Thanks to Christian Ehrhardt for pointing out the issue, working to get it fixed upstream and taking a first stab at this patch. Closes: #971171
