In 2006, Martin F Krafft fixed a bug in confmodule that today also bugged me.

Therefore: Please consider merging the patch already provided in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=369953 The patch from #369953 is exactly the same change that I would have made.
