Nice work! I have a few comments though. First it would be better if we could go to the right team by typing only the few required characters up to when the autocomplete gives back a single result... in other words a partial name ought to work.

Then it would be nice if we could type the slug which is the only thing guaranteed to be unique. Maybe the auto-complete should display the team name but paste the slug when we select the entry. And we should first do an exact lookup on the slug and name. And then a partial lookup on the slug and name.

I've just updated the MR. Now we are using the slug to search for teams. Also, the autocomplete shows the list of team names and, when the user chose one of the names, it pastes the slug of the selected team.

However, I still need to develop the following suggestion:

Just to clarify, if the autocomplete gives back a single result and the user press "Enter", then we should autocomplete the search field with the slug of this single team?

@arthurmde-guest yes but in general, any input that is sufficient to identify a single team should work even when you are not using the auto-completion feature. Think of someone setting up a shorthand URL in its browser redirecting to the search form.
