Unclear intention of "Bugs of the Day"

Hello,

This is about the Wiki entry about the "Bug of the Day".

In short: Is this about fixing bugs or fixing/modernizing whole packages?

To my experience, most of the bugs listed are damn to hard for newcomers. And looking into the query it seems it isn't searching for easy bugs but for dead/broken packages?

This IMHO should be stated clear in the wiki. Also in the public communication (e.g. BITS from DTP) it was not clear to me what this "Bug of the day" was about.

So to me it seems that this is not about good-first-issues but about dead packages, right?
