Implement logging and monitoring for all hosts

Logging is currently poor in general, and there is no resource monitoring.

We need to standardize data collection to some degree, so that analysis can be streamlined.

Ideally, we would also centrally collect the data, but some of the hosts are privately operated and this could be undesirable for the operators.
