Merge new release from upstream.
(This is my first time updating this package; apologies if I get any steps wrong.)
I've included a few lintian fixes that were obvious enough to me, others I was unsure either whether they're worth fixing, or how to do so, so reviewer direction would be appreciated for what else to look at.
I've posted the package to a Ubuntu PPA here with the work so far, to verify buildability of 12.0.5, and have verified autopkgtests against it:
I'm also aware of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1963831 proposing to add some additional binary packages for new extensions, and set this PR as Draft in anticipation of including fix(es) for this in addition.
