This patch is actually in Screen's master branch (which never saw a
release so far) since 2013 and the upstream issue requests to
cherry-pick this feature into the screen-v4 branch from which stable
releases are made.

Unit 193 kindly prepared and tested this rebased patch locally for
quite a while.
