Check if we're missing expected files, e.g. under /cdrom/firmware

Steve McIntyre requested to merge detect_missing_symlinks into master

Some users are simply copying files onto FAT32-formatted USB drives, and this may cause problems if it loses files/symlinks that we expect. Try to detect this and warn the user early.
