Michael R. Crusoe requested to merge crusoe-proposed into debian/main

Main change is the first commit "d/watch: switch to PyPI to grab the _version file. Fixes "0.0.0" version reporting."

The rest is just cosmetic & routine-update.

If you approve, I can also mark this as an officially team-maintained package in d/control

(and on approval, I'll push directly including the new commit to the pristine-tar branch)
