Draft: Backport 3.3.8-1 to Bookworm.

Very simple, almost zero-effort backport. Tested on Debian 12 Live XFCE, an install with all default options succeeds without errors and boots properly on a UEFI VM.

DO NOT MERGE THIS INTO MASTER. I don't know how to submit an MR on Salsa that makes a new branch...
