Otherwise the package build says

  configure:18339: error: possibly undefined macro: gl_PTHREADLIB

This happens from the "autoreconf -f -i" run, and I have no clear idea as to
why. The "nano" package had the same issue, and solved it the same way:

Using immediate instead of deferred variables in the Makefile. This is faster
and good hygiene, especially if using $(shell ...)
