WIP: Start moving all GTK interactions to the GUI thread

This is untested and definitely nowhere near ready, I'm only pushing it to give an idea of the direction that I think cdebconf should go post-bullseye for GTK 3 (and so that there's a copy other than on my laptop).

Includes !7 (closed), !10 (merged), !11.
